How far would you travel?

There’s a great little road-side restaurant in Southern Ontario called Dairy Freez.

It’s only open during the Summer and has been in operation since 1954. It’s located in the countryside about 30 minutes from the nearest city.

All summer long, the place is hopping. It’s a destination. Or, as one review calls it, it’s “a regional legend.”

They sell soft-serve ice cream and your typical diner food: burgers, fries, hotdogs, you name it.

People drive in from all over the place, passing many other ice cream shops and burger restaurants along the way.

So, why do people travel so far to get ice cream or diner food that they can find literally anywhere else?

It comes down to the experience.

When you go there, you can park your car and be served right from your car window by one of the waitresses, as they did back in the ’50s.

Or, you can get out and order at the stand.

If you order at the stand, most people take their food and bring it to one of the many picnic tables on the premises.

Since it’s located in the country, the scenery is beautiful and the grounds are well-maintained. Perfect for an afternoon ice cream in the mid-summer heat. Great for kids and seniors alike.

You could go to any restaurant you want, but you won’t find one with the same experience as Dairy Freez anywhere nearby.

It’s stuck in the ’50s and is steeped in nostalgia.

How to apply this to your coworking space

Admittedly, replicating this experience in your coworking space is extremely difficult, at best.

But what if you could make your space worth traveling a long distance to each morning? What effect would that have on your business?

For one, it would open your market up significantly. Your competition would become less relevant.

Secondly, it would also mean that you are more remarkable, increasing the likelihood of getting referrals and word of mouth benefit.

And lastly, it would allow you to charge a premium because you have something others don’t: an experience worth traveling for.

So, what can you do to make your coworking space so remarkable that people will travel great distances to work there?

That’s the question that will help you find ways to become truly remarkable, making all of your marketing a lot easier.
